Billing & Invoicing
The Accounting area gives Owners, Admins, and Managers a single place to see every order's billing status, issue and track invoices, and record payments.
Order numbers vs. invoice numbers
REMO uses two separate sequences, and it's worth keeping them straight:
| Order number | Invoice number | |
|---|---|---|
| Example | FP-00042 | INV-01848 |
| Identifies | The job | The invoice for that job |
| Assigned | When the job is created | When an invoice is issued |
| Prefix | Derived from your company name; editable | Fixed (INV-) |
So a job has an order number from the moment it's booked, but only gets an invoice number once an invoice is actually issued (for example, when editing completes and the itemized total is sent to the client).
How invoice numbers are assigned
- Invoice numbers are sequential per workspace and gapless — they're allocated at the moment of issuance, never skipped or reused.
- The first invoice seeds from your invoice sequence start setting. If you're migrating from
another tool and your last invoice was
INV-01847, set the start to1848so REMO continues your numbering instead of restarting at 1.
Set your invoice sequence start before issuing your first REMO invoice so the numbering lines up with your historical records.
The Invoicing view
Open Accounting → Invoicing from the sidebar.
The table lists your recent orders with:
- Order number and invoice number
- Client name and property address
- Job status and payment status
- Amount and date
You can filter by payment status (pending, paid, overdue, refunded, and so on), filter by date range, and search by text. Use Export CSV to download the filtered list for your accountant or bookkeeping tool.
The Invoicing view is available to Managers, Admins, and Owners (anyone with financial access). Staff and Guests don't see it.
Order actions
Click any row to open its receipt. From there, Owners and Admins can:
Mark as paid
Record a payment that happened outside REMO — cash, check, bank transfer, or a client you invoiced elsewhere. This creates a manual payment record and flips the order to paid. This is the path to use when migrating clients who have already settled their balance.
Refund
Issue a full or partial refund against a paid order. The refund is processed through the original payment method.
Mark-as-paid and Refund are restricted to Owners and Admins. Managers can view the invoicing table and receipts but can't record payments or refunds.
What clients see
Clients don't see the accounting view. They get their own receipts and payment history in the client portal — see the client portal.
Downloadable PDF invoices, account statements, tax handling, and accounting-software export (e.g. QuickBooks) are planned but not part of this release.
